You may not realise it but the UK has been the setting for literally thousands of films and TV programmes over the years. Not just any old settings but scenes which go a long way to making these films and TV programmes really stand out in the memory.
The great thing is, in many cases it is possible to visit these places today and if you close your eyes for one minute you can imagine yourself in one of your favourite films.
With that in mind let’s take a look at what I consider to be the best TV and Film locations in the UK.

Eilean Donan Castle – This imposing castle is absolutely stunning and when you see the films that have been shot there it will soon become apparent and this fabulous location is unlike any other that you may have seen before.

Chatsworth House – The Wolfman staring Anthony Hopkins as well as Pride and Prejudice have been filmed here and due to the stature of this magnificent building it is not difficult to see why.

Blackhall Beach-Seaham Beach – Two beaches which have been transformed from what they once were and the setting for at least three classic films which could well be on your all time favourites list.

Harry Potter Locations – There have obviously been many films shot in London but if you are a Harry Potter fan you may be surprised by some of the locations in London which were used for these films.

Torquay – You may think that Torquay in Devon would be the last place a film producer would consider filming but I have first hand experience of almost bumping into a Hollywood star there!

James Bond Locations – There are many locations around the UK which have been home to James Bond over the years and not all of them are as glamorous as you may think.

Trains And Train Stations – There is no wonder trains and train stations are an ideal choice for film makers as there are so many locations for them to choose from that they are certain to find exactly what it is they are looking for.

West Sands Beach, St. Andrews – Who can forget those opening scenes to the film, Chariots of Fire where the athletes are running along the beach. If you have ever wondered where these scenes were shot you will be interested to know that it was on this beach.

Pennan, Aberdeenshire – This is the small village in Scotland where Local Hero was filmed. Not exactly an all time classic but extremely popular at the time and Pennan was more or less taken over completely for filming purposes.

Alnwick Castle – This was the location for Hogwarts in the first two Harry Potter films and it has to be regarded as a great day out for the whole family. |
